SCANNCUT SX ROLL FEEDER 2

SDX roll feeder 2 is here!

I have just seen a post from Makers Superstore that they have the roll feeder 2 and spare leader sheets in stock! (As with the original roll feeder, this accessory is for SDX machines only). Now we can cut rolls of heat transfer vinyl as well as self adhesive vinyl! πŸ™‚

What’s the difference between the original roll feeder and the new one?

Here is the information from the official Brother website πŸ™‚

Reverse it – now you can use reverse rolled, as well as forward rolled materials on your Roll Feeder II, such as heat transfer vinyl.

In the thick of it – you can now cut materials from 0.15 mm up to 0.5 mm thick on the roll feeder II (roll feeder I range 0.21 mm – 0.35 mm).

Easier feed for reverse rolled and more delicate materials with the included Leader Sheet.Compatible with ScanNCut DX range only – please check Brother Solutions Center for compatibility.

Here’s a link to the roll feeder 2 manual – https://download.brother.com/welcome/doch102314/cadxrf2_d_om01en.pdf

Please note important information in the manual:

● This attachment was specially designed for the ScanNCut DX model. It cannot be used with any model other than the
ScanNCut DX.

● In order to use the roll feeder function, the dedicated application CanvasWorkspace (PC Version) must be installed on your computer.

Fantastic offer on the ScanNCut SDX135!

Just gone on to the Makers Superstore website site to see what’s new..they have a new SDX135 offer and some new usbs added to the website. πŸ™‚

If you’re thinking of getting a ScanNCut or upgrading, read this first πŸ™‚ My honest advice if you are thinking of upgrading is to get the SDX135 over the SDX900 because of the screen size. Look at the photo I’ve added to see the difference the 5″ screen makes. And plus I know for sure the SDX135 has the new, improved mat feed roller system πŸ™‚

They have a brilliant offer on the SDX135 at the moment, – I already have the SDX135 and it’s a fabulous machine. I’m going to treat myself to a USB or two though πŸ™‚

You’ll be able to put the self adhesive vinyl in the bundle to good use by putting it on the mugs – the t shirts will be good for getting some HTV and putting it on. Plus you get a couple of USBS in with the bundle.

I just cut and pasted the offer from the Makers Superstore site:

Β£499

Brother ScanNCut SDX 135 Pro Machine4 x Sublimation T-Shirts – Small, Medium, Large, X-Large
4 x Sublimation Mugs 11oz
1 x First Edition 52 Sheet Vinyl Pack – Gloss or Matt
2 x First Edition Digital Dies USB (Assorted Designs)
1 x SDX 135 Business Guide

I have the SDX135 – it’s a brilliant machine, it will cut, draw, foil, pierce, draw calligraphy, emboss just the same as all the other SDX machines…it just has less patterns, scans a 12″x12″ area only, and doesn’t have the .pes capababilty…but it does have more a couple more fonts than the SDX900.

And also crucially it has that large 5″ screen – I honestly think if you buy a ScanNcut like the SDX900 with the teeny tiny screen you will regret it – even if you use Canvas Workspace, you will still strain your eyes on the tiny screen of the SDX900….I am adding a photo of the huge difference in screen size between the SDX900 and the SDX135 ..

For comparison the SDX135 screen is 5″, the CM300/600/700/800 screens were 3.75″ and the SDX900 is teeny tiny at 3.47″..all my information on screen sizes came direct from Brother here –

Unboxing the amazing ScanNCut SDX135!

I know a lot of people still have their machine in the box – so with that in mind, to show you how quick and easy it is to get going, I recorded an unboxing video opening my new amazing SDX135 – the best of the mid range machines on the UK ScanNCut market.
https://youtu.be/12Jh4Miyxbc

I am loving using the SDX135, very happy with it, uses all the new SDX kits and it has the large 5″ screen, has the amazing autoblade feature etc – what’s not to love!

There is a fantastic free pattern for the dust cover on Canvas Workspace, so after recording the video, I cut the pattern out of self adhesive vinyl and decorated my new machine! Quick, easy and so much fun!

Hopefully it will encourage some of you open those boxes and get playing with your machines! πŸ™‚

In the UK the SDX135 is only sold by Makers Superstore – which is *the* place to get the best ScanNCut machines, and all the accessories and kits you could wish for! Their site can be found at http://makerssuperstore.com

Happy crafting!

TOP OF THE RANGE SCANNCUT NEWEST SCANNCUT

I get lots of lovely crafters out there asking me what is the top of the range, or newest ScanNCut, so thought I would do a general quick post, just to clear up some misinformation.

1) Just because a machine is the latest out, doesn’t automatically mean it’s top of the range…always carefully check the specifications first!

2) The current and ONLY TOP OF THE RANGE SCANNCUT to date (June 2021) is the SDX2200D, exclusively sold in the UK by Makers Superstore. (see explanation below)

3) There are only two official UK retailers in the UK, Makers Superstore who sell the SDX2200D and the SDX135 (the two best models, see explanation below) and Create and Craft who sell the SDX1200 and the SDX900. Both retailers are the fully aware of each other’s product range, as they both attend regular meetings with Brother Manchester.

Here is a list of the current SDX machines in range order, from BOTTOM of the range to the TOP of the range, and what makes each one different. To compare the rest of the features for each machine, number of patterns etc, please see comparison list which came from Brother. My notes for each machine are the differences between each one.

BOTTOM OF THE SDX RANGE – SDX900 – smallest screen of all the SDX’s – 3.47″ (smaller than CM300, 600, 700 and 800q screens which are 3.7″, so the SDX900 has a 1″ smaller screen all round). Screen size is 1.53″ smaller than the rest of the range. Least number of built in fonts = 7 (sits in the SDX range where the old CM300 used to be). 1MB internal memory for storing files (please note that updates WILL NOT make your machine run out of memory – previous updates are overwritten by the new update file – I have that in writing from Jonathan Quinn who is the engineer at Brother Manchester). Reads 600 shapes on mat at any one time.

MID RANGE MODEL – SDX135 – large screen 5″, 9 fonts, reads 600 shapes on mat at any one time, new mat feed roller system (to fix mat feed problems users had with the SDX1200 and it’s equivalent worldwide model numbers) – I have to find out what it was, but there was one more extra thing that the SDX135 had over the SDX900, but I can’t remember what it was offhand – but it definitely has one more thing that the SDX900 doesn’t). 1MB internal memory for storing files.

MID/HIGH RANGE MODE – SDX1200 – large 5″ screen, 1303 patterns, 17 fonts, comes with black autoblade, fabric blade, mini pen holder only with coloured pens, fabric pens. Low tack/standard mats. 1.5mb internal memory for storing files. Enhanced .pes/phc file capability. Reads 900 shapes on mat at any one time.

TOP OF THE RANGE IN SPECIFICATION MODEL – SDX2200D – 1455 inbuilt patterns (includes Disney designs) 17 fonts, 5″ large screen – only machine that contains inbuilt rhinestone patterns, only machine that has inbuilt roller feed patterns that cut direct from the machine (NO OTHER SCANNCUT CURRENTLY DOES THIS EXCEPT THE 2200D) – 2MB internal memory for storing files, new mat feed roller system (to fix mat feed problems users had with the SDX1200 and it’s equivalent worldwide model numbers) – Reads 900 shapes on mat at any one timecomes with a trial rhinestone kit as standard(tools and rhinestones) so that you can make the inbuilt rhinestone designs, and the universal pen holder as standard (as well as the mini pen holder, coloured pens, fabric pens). Enhanced .pes/phc file capability. Comes with low tack/standard mats.

Here is something I have in writing so in black and white about the SDX2200D from the head of Brother ScanNCut UK, based in Manchester.

“As with many manufacturers, Brother are constantly developing and improving the products that we make.
The SDX1200 was launched 18 months ago and the SDX2200D more recently in January 2020.
Given the above, I can confirm that as part of our natural product development cycle, there are a number of mechanical and software differences between the two models and the SDX2200D is fitted with a different roller mechanism to the SDX1200.”

So there you have it, the SDX2200D IS the top of the range! πŸ™‚

Whatever machine you have, happy cutting! πŸ™‚

Paper Piercing Facebook Live Class

ScanNCut DX Vinyl Auto Blade kit

I’ll be updating this page with lots of photos and a full review on the new vinyl auto blade kit shortly….the gist of my review is that it cuts *beautifully* and the tiling feature is fabulous!

Giant size vinyl projects here we come! Great for walls, windows, cars, vans etc πŸ™‚

This new vinyl auto blade does a fantastic job of cutting intricate, fine details on both self adhesive vinyl AND heat transfer vinyl.

Before I go any further, please note that the Vinyl Auto Blade Kit is for SDX/DX machines only – so in the UK this kit will work on the

SDX135PRO, SDX2200D, SDX1200 and SDX900.

In the UK, the vinyl auto blade kit is sold exclusively through www.makerssuperstore.com, who sell the two ScanNCut machines that I personally recommend, the SDX135 and the SDX2200D, as well as a FULL range of accessories and kits for both the CM series and the SDX series machines – how fabulous is that!

There are two versions of the kit available – the standard vinyl autoblade kit which contains –

  • Vinyl Auto Blade and Vinyl Auto Blade Holder
  • All Occasions Activation Card x 21 Designs
  • Access to Canvas Workspace vinyl features.

And the Disney vinyl autoblade kit which contains

  • 55 Designs – 21 All Occasions/34 Disney
  • Includes SDX Vinyl Auto Blade and Vinyl Auto Blade Holder
  • Access to new tiling weeding functions in Canvas Workspace

I recorded a couple of videos at the end of last week and they are now live on YouTube!

So here’s the first video: unboxing the kit, a look at the patterns etc:

And how to activate the vinyl autoblade kit; how to activate the Disney patterns; how to access the patterns and transfer them to your machine; how to access the patterns in Canvas Workspace; how to use the tiling function and more!

Hope you find the videos useful, and I would love to see photos of your projects created with the vinyl autoblade!

As ever, happy cutting! πŸ™‚

CM900 DISCONTINUED IN UK

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the latest ScanNCut news from Brother.

You all know I do love the ScanNCut πŸ™‚ so I always make sure I keep up to date with what’s happening, and what’s coming up with Brother.

Ok so the first bit of news is a bit of both good and bad and comes direct from my Brother source.

THE CM900 HAS NOW OFFICIALLY BEEN DISCONTINUED IN THE UK.

And there is a BRAND NEW SDX MODEL in the ScanNCut family – the SDX135 PRO!

(I posted that I thought that the CM900 was going to be discontinued a short while back, as all the new kits have been for the SDX only – the CM900 was already discontinued a while back in Australia, so I knew it was just a matter of time..)

Now I don’t know about the CM300 yet, I will do my best to find out..it MAY be that Brother decide to keep it on for a while as a very basic entry level model, but I have asked Brother direct and will post when I get more information on that.

Now if you own a CM series (and along with my SDX I also own the CM900) then DO NOT PANIC, because Makers Superstore ARE stocking ALL the accessories for the CM series, mats, blades, kits etc so you’ll be OK for those and Makers Superstore are a VERY reliable source!

So you WILL be able to keep on cutting with your CM900, just like you can on the other CM machines that are no longer sold in the UK (ie the CM600, CM700, CM800Q).

Along with everything you need for the ScanNCut CM series, Makers Superstore also stock a FULL RANGE of accessories and kits for the ScanNCut DX series (so SDX2200D, SDX135pro, SDX1200) πŸ™‚

Check this independent review page here:

https://www.reviews.co.uk/…/store/www-makerssuperstore-com

I did ask Brother just over a year ago about the mats and blades for the CM series, as I want to see us CM users are alright, and this was their reply..

“Anyway, our factory are providing accessories for some years after the production of last machine”

So I’m sure we can rely on Makers Superstore to provide us with CM series mats and blades for a while yet! πŸ™‚

Plus if you’re thinking of upgrading to the SDX series, so I’ll post the features and specifications about the new SDX135 PRO in an upcoming post! πŸ™‚

New ScanNCut kits and accessories out now!

OMG just seen this! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

https://www.makerssuperstore.com/scanncutnewin

You all know how much I love my ScanNCut accessories it’s like ScanNCut central in my craft room LOL!

Makers Superstore have the brand new SDX accessories available for despatch from this Wednesday 16th September πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

https://www.makerssuperstore.com/scanncutnewin

So – all these items will work on all models of the SDX series, (but not the CM series).

Vinyl Auto Blade Kit πŸ™‚

There are two versions of the new vinyl autoblade kit:

1) Vinyl autoblade with All Occasions activation card.

2) Vinyl autoblade with All Occasions activation card AND Disney activation card patterns.

New autoblade especially for vinyl – I have seen this in a Youtube video somewhere and it’s *a lot* smaller and finer than the current standard autoblade in the black holder and is designed for fine, intricate details – I can’t wait to try this!

There is also a Disney version, so you get the all occasions card PLUS the Disney activation card.

Disney version in this video –

The vinyl autoblade kit gives us access in Canvas Workspace to a tiling function, so we can make HUGE vinyl designs for walls etc πŸ™‚ hahaha got to love that! Here’s how it works:

Also gives us access to create weeding boxes so makes designs easier to weed and saves on vinyl waste –

There are also spare vinyl auto blades on the site πŸ™‚

New Frozen 2 patterns activation card πŸ™‚

New rhinestone patterns activation card. πŸ™‚ I absolutely love rhinestones so was really pleased to see this! Look at that fabulous unicorn!

Also there are two fabulous new additional functions available by purchasing the activation cards below:

Print to Cut Function for the ScanNCut allows you to precisely cut sheets of design with ease. “Includes: Activation Card for ScanNCut Print and Cut

Use Adobe Illustrator? The Plugin Auto Position Adjustment For use with Adobe Illustrator and SDX Series” AND ScanNCut Link has been designed for use with Adobe Illustrator software to transfer your custom-made designs directly to your ScanNCut SDX machine. “Transferring your .AI files allows you to have even more flexibility in creating your next project! Add registrations marks to help align your projects when cutting with this function.”

Happy cutting and creating everyone! πŸ™‚
